Social Activities

Please note: If you would like to take part in the Excursion and / or the Conference Dinner, you must officially register and pay the fee during registration. The same applies to bookings for accompanying persons.

There will be no lectures on Wednesday afternoon. A group excursion will be organized for seminar participants and accompanying persons who are interested in joining. The city of Munich and the surrounding area with numerous mountains and lakes offer many attractive sights in every season. On Thursday evening, there will be a conference dinner in a Bavarian restaurant with typical, traditional local dishes.

If you have registered for one or both of the social activities, please read the information below.

Group Excursion

Tickets for the group excursion are 80,00 € per person.

On Wednesday, September 10, 2025, in the afternoon, there will be a joint excursion to the Bavarian Oberland.

The joint excursion will start at the campus at 1:00 p.m. The exact meeting point for departure will be announced during the conference. Please be punctual at the meeting point.

We will take a large bus to Schliersee and get off at the Schliersee train station. Schliersee is nestled in the picturesque mountain landscape of Upper Bavaria, only about 50 kilometers south of Munich. Surrounded by majestic peaks and dense forests, the lake offers an idyllic backdrop.
From there, we will all walk together to the starting point of the hike, which is located at the valley station of the cable car. From there, we will take a leisurely walk to the Schliersbergalm at Schliersee. The wide gravel path leads steadily uphill along the picturesque mountain landscape and past cow pastures with a magnificent view of Schliersee. It is an easy hike to the Schlierbergalm, which takes about an hour, covering a distance of 2 km and an altitude of approx. 250 m (elevation gain of 250 m).

Once at the top, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful panoramic view. Snack bags will be provided for all participants of the excursion, which can be eaten during the hike, at a nice spot on the way up or on the mountain. At the Schliersbergalm, you also have the opportunity to buy typical Bavarian snacks and drinks in a beer garden.

Once everyone has had enough rest, we will take the same route back down at a leisurely pace. If everything goes according to plan, we should be back on campus around 6:00/6:30 p.m.

Alternatively, there is the option of taking a cable car up and/or down. Please note: Participants who cannot or do not want to hike down must still wait for the rest of the group, as there will only be one bus for us to return together.

Please bring comfortable, closed-toe shoes for the hike. As the weather in the mountains can change quickly, please be sure to bring rain and sun protection, as well as clothing for warmer and cooler temperatures!

 

Conference Dinner 

Tickets for the conference dinner are 70,00 € per person.
